Collin Murray-Boyles had a one-word reaction to his shining moment at the 2025 NBA Draft.

On Wednesday night at Barclays Center, the former South Carolina forward was selected by the Raptors with the No. 9 overall pick.

As Murray-Boyles stood up, he buttoned up his blue striped suit jacket, and while shaking his head, he seemingly said “f–k” just before hugging family members.

Some fans have been speculating on social media that Murray-Boyles’ reaction was not a happy one.

“I didn’t want him either,” one X user wrote.

“Nobody wants to play in Canada,” another wrote.

Another chimed in saying, “Off to a great start.”

In other words, as one posted, “is that a ‘omg i made it’ or a ‘damn the raptors.'”

However, others were quick to reject that narrative.

“Pretty sure thats out of relief…” someone wrote on X.

“Y’all are reaching,” another wrote.

In an interview with NBA TV following the pick, Murray-Boyles was asked to explain what he said once the pick was announced.

“WTF for sure,” he said. “WTF. WTF all the way until my name got called. Man, it was crazy. But jeez, I almost shed a tear. But I try to keep my composure, you know, it’s surreal. I was dreaming of this when I was a kid. You never know you’re going to be there until you’re there, so it’s like crazy.”

Murray-Boyles’ girlfriend, Chloe Kitts, was also overcome with emotion, hugging her star when his name was called.

The couple met at South Carolina where Kitts is a 6-foot-2 forward for the Gamecocks and she recently finished her third season in April.

Later on in the night, she was seen sporting Murray-Boyles’ new Raptors hat.

In ESPN’s latest mock draft before the big night started, Murray-Boyles was predicted to go at the No.12 slot to the Bulls.

He was expected to be in the 10-16 range, but he ended up breaking through the top 10 after averaging 16.8 points on 58 percent shooting for the Gamecocks in his sophomore season.
