Two-time major champion Collin Morikawa is hunting to find his winning form again.
Morikawa split with his long-time caddie, J.J. Jakovac, in April, looking for a vibe change, and replaced him with Max Homa's long-time caddie, Joe Greiner. Morikawa informed the media on Wednesday before the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit that Greiner is no longer on the bag starting this week.
"I think people, they're going to be surprised, but the way I put it is just because two people are great at what they do doesn't mean they're going to be great together," Morikawa said. "I think Joe is an amazing caddie, but I think just the way we kind of saw things, or just day to day how we kind of went about it, we were just a little bit on a different page."
Morikawa made all five cuts with Greiner on the bag. The short-lived duo could not secure a top-10 finish together, with their best finish being at T-17 at the Truist Championship.
Morikawa informed the media about the change during his Wednesday media availability. This week at Detroit Golf Club, Morikawa's college teammate at Cal-Berkley and Korn Ferry Tour pro KK Limbhasut will be on the bag. Limbhasut is only on the bag this week because he is an alternate in this week's Korn Ferry Tour event.
Morikawa added that he is still contemplating who will caddie for him in the last major of the year at The British Open at Royal Portrush.
Morikawa, currently ranked 5th in the Official World Golf Rankings, has been tinkering with his game in all sorts of ways this season in hopes of finding perfect form. Morikawa, who won the 2021 Open Championship at Royal St George's Golf Club, will look to head across the pond and capture his third major championship.
Morikawa was seen on the practice green on Monday trying out some new putters. The 28-year-old said, "I will use the same Taylormade TP Soto as last week."
Morikawa played some Sunday rounds at the Travelers Championship without a glove. It could also be something to watch for this week.
