College World Series 2025 live score: LSU vs. Coastal Carolina baseball updates, results, highlights from Game 1

The 2025 college baseball season is coming to an end. Saturday marks the start of the 2025 College World Series Championship Final. The Sun Belt's Coastal Carolina and the SEC's LSU will duke it out in a three-game series to determine a national champion.

Coastal Carolina is a smaller school outside Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It has a peculiar mascot that is essentially an angry rooster, and they play on a teal football field; however, they consistently put together respectable baseball teams. The Chanticleers — the angry roosters — finished the season 56-11 and went 26-4 in conference play.

Coastal Carolina was given the No. 13 seed for the College World Series. The Chanticleers have won 26 games in a row dating back to the regular season. Coastal Carolina rolled through its regional, taking down Fairfield and East Carolina before a quick two-game sweep of Auburn in the super regionals. The Chanticleers rolled past Arizona, Oregon State and Louisville in the College World Series to reach the Championship Series. 

LSU is known for its football team, but recent alumni have put its baseball team on the map. Pirates ace Paul Skenes and Nationals outfielder Dylan Crews are both former Tigers. LSU went 51-15 this season, but struggled through conference play, going 19-11. The Tigers aren't riding the same win streak that the Chanticleers are but have won six games in a row.

LSU hosted a regional and went 3-1, losing to Little Rock once, but beating them twice as well as defeating Dallas Baptist to advance. The Tigers outscored the Mountaineers 28-14 in the super regionals to make the College World Series. LSU beat UCLA and Arkansas twice to make the championship finals. The second win over Arkansas was notable because the Razorbacks imploded in the final inning, allowing the Tigers to walk-off.

The first game of the 2025 College World Series Championship Final will be held on Saturday, June 21. First pitch is tentatively scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, but with it being the summer, a stray thunderstorm could delay the game. 

The game will air on ESPN and will be live-streamed on ESPN+. It will also be available with Fubo, which carries ESPN in its channel lineup and is offering a free trial.
