College football's Week 5 featured some big matchups between ranked opponents. But those who were hoping that chaos would ensue, but there weren't too many big surprises.
In the early slate, Alabama proved to be Superkamario's kryptonite, beating the Bulldogs in Starkville 56-23. The Tide defense forced multiple Kamario Taylor turnovers, as well as several sacks. Georgia survived a scare against Vanderbilt, winning 38-14, but it was a one-score game at halftime. Notre Dame also survived a test on the road, beating Bill Belichick's UNC team 36-27.
Saturday afternoon gave us our first big upset of the day, as Florida was dominated by Missouri 45-17 to hand the Gators their first loss. Kentucky came back against South Carolina in a thriller, as Wildcats head coach Will Stein called a two-point game-winner to shock South Carolina at home. The South Carolina job could be opening soon, and there are several big names that could replace Shane Beamer.
Also in the afternoon, Ohio State got past Iowa 31-14, and Jeremiah Smith broke multiple Buckeye records. Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel benched former five-star Faizon Brandon but managed to beat Auburn 24-14, creating a QB controversy in Knoxville.
In the evening slate, there was little drama, as USC sneaked past Washington at home 25-2. Miami bulldozed Clemson 41-13 while BYU beat TCU 17-10 on the road.
