Cole Beaudoin was on the ice and in the middle of Utah development camp when the Rangers acquired him as part of the highly anticipated Vincent Trocheck trade on July 1.
“It was crazy,” the 20-year-old Canadian recalled after the first day of Rookie camp in Tarrytown on Friday. “I wasn’t expecting it, but I’m excited now.”
As one of the three assets — along with Sean Durzi and a 2027 third-round pick — the Mammoth sent to New York in exchange for the veteran center, Beaudoin was a pivotal piece of the trade for many reasons.
The Rangers set out to bolster their pool of prospects this offseason, and Beaudoin instantly became one of the top players in the organization’s pipeline. A former first-round pick (24th overall in 2024), the young center brings some much-needed excitement to the club’s otherwise-discouraging depth down the middle.
