Here’s the thing: Aaron Glenn’s Jets allowed you to dream for a brief moment Sunday.
It came early in the fourth quarter when Jets edge rusher Kingsley Enagbare knocked the ball out of the hands of Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd and Harrison Phillips jumped on it to give the Jets the ball at the Green Bay 18 while already leading 14-7 with 12:27 left in the game.
The Jets were in position to go up two touchdowns on the favored Packers. They had a chance to start the season 2-0 for the first time since 2015. Suddenly, it felt safe to wonder whether this Jets team actually was better than expected. Forget about six or seven wins … could this team, gulp, actually win nine or 10?
Then, it all fell apart.
