Coaches Poll has astonishing spot for Miami Hurricanes

The Miami Hurricanes are a good program, and they had a really good year last year, but they still missed the 12-team College Football Playoff. This was thanks in no small part to Cam Ward, one of the nation's best QBs who went on to become the first overall pick in the draft.

He's gone now, and in his place is Carson Beck, a good player who is not close to Ward's level. Despite that, college coaches love the Canes, ranking them 10th in the nation in their preseason Top 25 poll. It's a bit of a surprise, to be truthful.

On3's Nick Kosko said, "Miami fell short last season with some missed opportunities to get to the ACC title game. To be fair, they had a little bit of Lady Luck on their side as well." But despite having a good year that was a bit lucky, they're somehow predicted to be even better in 2025.

"Carson Beck transferred in to replace Cam Ward at QB. That’ll be the biggest spotlight in Coral Gables this season. Mario Cristobal has a lot of talent at his disposal and the College Football Playoff should be the minimum," Kosko added. The Beck addition was a big one, but it's very hard to see how it is a move that raises the Hurricanes' ceiling.
