The co-founder of the conservative The Federalist news site, Benjamin Domenech, lit into Rep. Matt Gaetz Thursday, calling him a “sex trafficking, drug addicted piece of s—t” — and warning senators that they’ll have to live with themselves if they confirm him as attorney general.
In his newsletter The Transom, Domenech slammed the embattled Florida republican as a morally bankrupt sexual predator, comparing him to a “fentanyl-addicted hobo” and a “Real Housewife gone mad for fillers.”
“The man is absolutely vile. There are pools of vomit with more to offer the earth than this STD-riddled testament to the failure of fallen masculinity,” Domenech slammed in the newsletter.
“The man has less principles than your average fentanyl-addicted hobo. He likes them underage and he’s not ashamed about it,” wrote Domenech, who co-founded The Federalist in 2013.
The attack on Gaetz by Domenech — who is married to TV personality Meghan McCain, daughter of the late Republican Sen. John Mccain — comes after the former congressman was the subject of a sex trafficking probe by lawmakers.
Gaetz, a loyal supporter of the 45th president, was investigated by the House Ethics Committee over allegations that he was part of a scheme that led to the sex-trafficking of a 17-year-old girl. The probe ended, however, due to the 42-year-old’s resignation Wednesday after his nomination by Trump.
Domenech began his brutal tirade with a conservative call to arms.
“I realize that we are occasionally given to hyperbole about the untoward nature of politicians, but let me be clear: Matt Gaetz is a sex trafficking drug addicted piece of s—t. He is abhorrent,” Domenech wrote.
“Every Republican in Washington has an opinion about Matt Gaetz, and 99% of those opinions are, ‘Keep Matt Gaetz away from my wife/daughter/friend and anyone I care about,’” he wrote.
“If I was merely attempting to count the number of women I know who have had bad experiences with Matt Gaetz, I would run out of fingers and toes. If you vote for him to be the Attorney General of the United States, you don’t just need your head examined, you need to be committed to a mental institution,” he continued.
“Matt Gaetz isn’t just your average extreme Florida MAGA Man, he’s a hypocritical ass with the worst Botox money can buy, pursuing an ever-thinner nose and higher cheekbones at every opportunity like a Real Housewife gone mad for fillers,” he said of the congressman’s rumored penchant for facial enhancements.
Some Republican lawmakers were stunned and outraged Wednesday when President-elect Donald Trump selected Gaetz — who’d been facing a sex trafficking probe — to serve as the nation’s top law enforcement official.
Gaetz, 42, a loyal supporter of the 45th president, had been the subject of a probe by the House Ethics Committee into allegations that he was part of a scheme that led to the sex-trafficking of a 17-year-old girl.
“Here’s the real deal: Matt Gaetz is the line for how we assess the Republican Party. If they are truly a cult of personality, beholden to Donald Trump in ways that we could not even imagine for a party that rejects cults and idol worship, they will approve this choice,” Domenech wrote.
“But if they have a degree of independence, any kind of free thought, mindful of the fact that a presidency is four years but your career is forever, they will reject this choice so emphatically that it sends a very simple, straightforward message.”
The Ethics Committee investigation into Gaetz also included allegations of illicit drug use, accepting bribes and sharing of inappropriate images on the House floor.
Gaetz resigned from Congress Wednesday after Trump selected him, ending the investigation, which began in April 2021.
Gaetz didn’t immediately return a request for comment.
