Clippers sign Yale's 19.4 PPG, 41% 3-point shooter as steal of undrafted free agency

The Los Angeles Clippers have watched the Lakers have some undrafted free agency fun and didn't want to miss out.

They might've just landed one of the underrated steals of the summer.

The Clippers reached an Exhibit 10 contract agreement with Yale's John Poulakidas, according to The Athletic's Law Murray. That means his most likely outcome is to begin his career on the Clippers' G League team, but he'll first get the chance to make his case for more.

Poulakidas is a 6-foot-5 lefty who can absolutely fill it up.

In four years at Yale, he shot 40.2% from 3, including 40.8% as a senior. That career percentage is on more than 600 attempts. Poulakidas can let it fly.

He's not just a 3-point shooter, either.

Poulakidas led the Ivy League in scoring as a senior at 19.4 points per game.

He doesn't do a ton of other things particularly well, although the reality was Yale really, really needed him to score, so he didn't have time to show off many other traits.

There are concerns about Poulakidas' ability to defend in the NBA, but it's hard to teach his scoring and shooting ability.

The Clippers have some solid defenders. Sometimes, you just need someone off the ball who can knock down open shots.

If Poulakidas gets the chance, that's exactly what he'll do.
