Clinique’s new Daily Calm line is perfect for sensitive skin girlies like me

Sensitive skin deserves products that work with it instead of against it.

As someone with sensitive skin, I’m always cautious about trying something new because one wrong formula can leave my complexion feeling irritated for days. That’s why I was especially excited to see Clinique introduce the Daily Calm Collection, its first total skincare-to-makeup solution created specifically for sensitive skin.

Available to shop on Amazon starting today, July 1, the collection is designed to instantly soothe irritation while helping repair the skin barrier and prevent future sensitivity.

I’ve been testing the Daily Calm Collection ahead of its launch, and one of the biggest things I’ve noticed is how much calmer, more comfortable and clearer my skin has looked throughout the past month. Instead of juggling multiple products, I’ve appreciated having a simple routine that helps reduce visible redness while keeping my skin feeling hydrated and balanced. It’s a collection that fits easily into my everyday routine without making my sensitive skin feel like an afterthought.

“The Daily Calm line was developed in response to the growing number of consumers who identify as having very sensitive or sensitized skin and are looking for products that feel both effective and reassuring to use,” Janet Pardo, senior vice president of global product development at Clinique, exclusively shared with the New York Post.

She explains that the brand focused on creating “a streamlined regimen that would help support skin’s barrier while addressing visible irritation and discomfort,” ultimately narrowing the collection to four essentials: the Daily Calm Gentle Cream Cleanser, Daily Calm Soothing Repair Cream, Daily Calm Makeup Balm and Daily Calm Lip + Cheek Color.

The timing couldn’t be better. With sensitive skin affecting more adults worldwide than ever, a problem that is especially common among Gen Z and Millennials, Clinique set out to create products that don’t just calm irritation in the moment but also help prevent it from coming back.

Below you will find an overview of all the products in the new lineup, tested by yours truly.

Clinique Daily Calm Gentle Cream Cleanser

Pros:

  • Creamy formula cleanses without leaving my skin feeling tight or stripped.
  • Hydrating ingredients like glycerin, hyaluronic acid and squalane help keep sensitive skin feeling comfortable.
  • Fragrance-free formula removes everyday makeup while helping calm visible redness.

Cons:

  • The cream texture may feel too rich for anyone who prefers a foaming cleanser.
  • Waterproof mascara or long-wear makeup may require a separate cleansing balm or makeup remover first.
  • Premium price compared to many gentle drugstore cleansers.

I’d describe the Clinique Daily Calm Gentle Cream Cleanser as one of those cleansers that makes my skin feel better after I use it instead of simply getting the job done. The creamy texture melts over my skin without any tightness or stinging, and I love that I can massage it onto dry skin before wiping or rinsing it away. After using it for the past month, my face has consistently felt calm, hydrated and noticeably less reactive, which isn’t something I can say about many cleansers.

One of the reasons I think it works so well is the ingredient lineup. Glycerin and hyaluronic acid act like moisture magnets, pulling hydration into the skin so it doesn’t feel stripped after cleansing. The formula also contains squalane along with olive, avocado and jojoba oils to help soften the skin, while Clinique’s Uniflavon botanical blend with magnolia is designed to visibly calm irritation and redness. There’s even a small amount of caffeine to help reduce the look of puffiness and salicylic acid to gently keep pores clear without making the cleanser feel drying.

I also appreciate that the formula skips ingredients my sensitive skin doesn’t always get along with. It’s free of fragrance, parabens, phthalates, sulfates, drying alcohol and synthetic dyes, so I can use it without worrying about unnecessary irritants. Rather than leaving my skin feeling squeaky clean, it feels comfortable, balanced and hydrated, which is exactly how I want my face to feel after cleansing.

Clinique Daily Calm Soothing Repair Cream

Pros:

  • Provides strong barrier support thanks to ingredients like ceramides, fatty acids and cholesterol that help reinforce and protect stressed skin.
  • Has a gentle, fragrance-free formula that makes it suitable for sensitive or easily irritated skin without causing stinging or redness.
  • Delivers a noticeable soothing effect that helps calm visible redness and relieve tight, uncomfortable skin while keeping it well hydrated.

Cons:

  • Comes at a higher price point compared to many basic moisturizers that offer simple hydration.
  • Can feel unnecessary or overly rich on normal or oily skin when there’s no irritation or dryness present.

I’ve been using Clinique Daily Calm Soothing Repair Cream for a few weeks, mainly on days when my skin feels reactive or a bit uncomfortable. It has a creamy texture, but it doesn’t feel heavy or oily once it’s on. It absorbs fairly quickly and leaves the skin feeling cushioned rather than coated.

From an ingredient standpoint, it makes more sense when I think of it in simple terms: hyaluronic acid and glycerin act like moisture attractors, pulling water into the skin so it feels less tight. The ceramides, fatty acids and cholesterol work more like “mortar” for the skin barrier — helping reinforce the outer layer so it holds moisture better and reacts less easily to irritants. There are also calming plant-based components like magnolia and Clinique’s Uniflavon blend, which seem aimed at reducing visible redness and that warm, slightly irritated feeling.

Using it consistently, it feels especially geared toward calming and supporting stressed skin rather than just basic hydration. It’s fragrance-free and avoids common irritants, which makes it easier to tolerate when my skin is already a bit sensitive. I notice it works well both in the morning and at night because it doesn’t interfere with sunscreen or makeup and doesn’t pill. On irritated days, it feels more like it helps normalize the skin rather than simply masking dryness, especially when my skin barrier feels slightly compromised or overworked from weather changes or other products.

Compared to the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+, the differences show up in both feel and purpose. The Lotion+ is lighter and more straightforward: It’s mainly about providing steady, everyday hydration with a smooth finish, making it a good option for normal to combination skin that just needs balance.

The Daily Calm cream feels more targeted toward recovery and comfort, with more emphasis on barrier repair and soothing ingredients rather than just basic moisture. If the Lotion+ is something I’d use daily without thinking much about my skin condition, the Daily Calm is what I reach for when my skin feels irritated, dry in patches, or generally out of balance and needing a reset.

Clinique Daily Calm Makeup Balm

Pros:

  • Feels very gentle on the skin thanks to soothing ingredients like glycerin, hyaluronic acid and calming botanical extracts that help reduce the look of redness.
  • Gives a natural, skin-like finish that evens tone without looking heavy or mask-like.
  • Balm-like, silicone-smooth texture makes it easy to apply quickly with fingers.

Cons:

  • Coverage is quite sheer, so it won’t fully hide blemishes or strong discoloration.
  • The dewy finish doesn’t last as long on oilier skin and may need touch-ups.

I went into Clinique’s Daily Calm Makeup Balm expecting something closer to a traditional foundation, but it behaves more like a skincare-makeup hybrid. The texture is the first thing I noticed; it melts between fingers into a soft, almost serum-like slip that spreads easily without dragging. It’s so hydrating and fantastic.

On the skin, it gives a light, even veil that tones down redness rather than masking everything, which fits its ingredient approach. It uses lightweight silicones like dimethicone for that smooth glide and blur effect, while humectants like glycerin and hyaluronic acid help draw water into the skin so it doesn’t look dry or tight. There are also calming botanical ingredients like Uniflavon and magnolia extract, which are included to help reduce the look of irritation and support a more balanced, less reactive feel.

Instead of relying on a heavy pigment load, the formula uses flexible pigments suspended in a cushiony base of emollients and waxes, so it moves with the skin rather than sitting on top of it. In practical terms, it behaves more like evening out your complexion than covering it completely. Ingredients like sodium hyaluronate act like moisture magnets to keep the finish from clinging to dry patches, while barrier-supporting lipids help the skin feel more comfortable over time.

It’s easy to apply with fingers and can be sheered out or slightly built up, but it’s not meant for full coverage or a matte, perfected finish. I’ve noticed it works best as a “calmer version of your skin” product, especially if your skin tends to feel easily irritated or flushed.

Clinique Daily Calm Lip + Cheek Color

Pros:

  • Soft, balm-like texture that blends easily on lips and cheeks.
  • Gives a natural, sheer flush that looks skin-like.
  • Comfortable and moisturizing feel throughout wear.

Cons:

  • Sheer pigmentation requires frequent reapplication.
  • Not very long-wearing, especially on cheeks.
  • Limited color intensity for those wanting bold payoff.

The Clinique Daily Calm Lip + Cheek Color has become something I reach for when I want a quick, unfussy touch of color. The texture sits somewhere between a balm and a cream tint, which makes it easy to press onto the lips and blend onto the cheeks with just my fingertips.

On my lips it settles into a soft, sheer stain that looks natural rather than made up, and on my cheeks it gives the same understated flush that blends into the skin without any harsh edges. It never feels heavy, and it works especially well on days when I don’t want to think too much about makeup but still want to look a bit more put together.

Comfort is the main reason it stays in my rotation. It keeps my lips feeling moisturized instead of dry, and it doesn’t cling in an uncomfortable way as the day goes on. The color payoff is on the lighter side, so it needs reapplication if I want it to stay noticeable, but that tradeoff feels worth it for how easy it is to wear. It fits best into a simple routine where the goal is a natural, slightly flushed look that doesn’t feel overdone or fussy.
