Pop culture podcaster Perez Hilton hit out at President Trump for his comments on Rob Reiner. The 78-year-old director and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead on Sunday afternoon at their Los Angeles home. Hours later, President Trump shared a post on Truth Social giving his reaction.

Rob Reiner was a known critic of the incumbent U.S. President and often slammed his policies. In his memorial post, the POTUS referred to Reiner as a "talented movie director." However, he took aim at the filmmaker for his political views and said he was afflicted with "Trump Derangement Syndrome." The President's post drew ire from many on the internet.

Later, during a press briefing at the Oval Office, a journalist asked the POTUS whether he stood by his comment amid criticism. Donald Trump did not walk back his remarks and instead doubled down on what he had said.

"He became like a deranged person. Trump derangement syndrome, so I was not a fan of Rob Reiner at all in any way, shape, or form. I thought he was very bad for our country," the President added.

Perez Hilton blasted President Trump for reasserting his critical views about the late director. Hilton discussed Trump's reaction in his blog post and wrote:

"Saying that about a man who was just brutally murdered?! Classless. Zero empathy. It’s downright disturbing."

Perez Hilton highlighted that despite many of Trump's supporters scrutinizing his post on Reiner, he doubled down on his claims. In a separate blog post, Hilton discussed the reactions of Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie to the president's post. Both Republican leaders denounced Trump's comments.

Referring to the aforementioned Truth Social post, the podcaster said it was "unhinged" but "not surprising" to him. He also called out President Trump's demand to cancel Jimmy Kimmel's show after he allegedly made controversial comments about Charlie Kirk.

"And this is coming from the same guy who wanted Jimmy Kimmel cancelled after commenting on Charlie Kirk's murder! Yep, the hypocrisy is ripe here," Hilton wrote.

In addition to his blogs, the pop culture influencer also bashed the POTUS in his podcast episode. Hilton quickly read Trump's post in which he wrote that Rob Reiner and his wife had passed away "reportedly due to the anger he caused others." He added that the late filmmaker was obsessed with turning people against him. Perez Hilton criticized the POTUS for politicizing Rob Reiner's death.

"He is basically spitting on the grave of Rob Reiner and his wife, and they're not even buried yet. This death had nothing to do with politics. It was a sad, personal family situation, but Donald Trump made it about politics and himself," the podcaster said.

Hilton also mentioned that Michele Reiner, a photographer, had worked with Trump for his book cover. Later in the podcast, the celebrity influencer played the President's reaction from the press conference. Hilton was enraged with the POTUS doubling down on his remarks and said:

"I think Donald Trump is bad for our country, and I'm entitled to my opinion, too. I used to have Trump derangement syndrome and then I thought I was cured, but I might have it again."

After the president slammed Rob Reiner, the latter's comments on Charlie Kirk's assassination have been making the rounds on the internet. Despite ideological differences, Reiner condemned Kirk's murder.
