MIDLAND, Mich. — The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) formally honored Cintas Corporation’s (Nasdaq: CTAS) site in Midland, Michigan, as an MVPP Star Worksite-certified location.

The Michigan Voluntary Protection Program (MVPP) is a MIOSHA cooperative initiative that provides a structured framework for evaluating and recognizing strong safety and health management systems through a partnership among management, labor and MIOSHA focused on continuous improvement. Within MVPP, the Michigan Star Program represents the highest level of achievement, recognizing workplaces with exemplary safety and health management systems and injury and illness incidence rates below the industry average for the previous three years.

“Achieving MVPP Star status is a major accomplishment for our employee-partners,” said Mengeu. “I could not be prouder of our employee‑partners and their unwavering dedication and commitment over the past five years as we worked to achieve the MVPP Star Worksite Award. The continued engagement, focus and determination of our employee-partners to strengthen our safety culture have been nothing short of outstanding. Their ability to collaborate, identify opportunities for improvement and elevate our safety practices has been the key contributing factor in our successful certification. This achievement is a direct reflection of their hard work, passion and shared commitment to ensuring a safe workplace for everyone.”

As the first industrial laundry operation—and the first industrial Cintas location—in the state of Michigan to achieve MVPP Star Worksite status, the Midland operation has laid the groundwork for all other Cintas operations in Michigan to pursue and attain MVPP certification. The commitment demonstrated by the partners at this location has created a model of excellence that others can follow, raising the bar for safety engagement and operational performance across the state.

Achieving MVPP Star Worksite certification is an extensive and highly rigorous process. In Michigan, there are more than 900,000 businesses, yet only 29 have earned MVPP Star Worksite status—underscoring the exceptional nature of this accomplishment. To qualify, organizations must demonstrate that management and employees work collaboratively and proactively to prevent workplace injuries. This is achieved by implementing a comprehensive safety and health management system and consistently maintaining injury and illness rates below the national averages reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) for their specific industries.

Participants must be re-evaluated every three to five years to remain in the program.

Cintas’ commitment to OSHA’s VPP Star program has set a new standard for U.S. companies. As of February 2026, 140 Cintas facilities in the United States are VPP Star certified, a total that far exceeds that of any other company.
Article content
“Achieving VPP certification takes teamwork and a shared focus on keeping one another healthy and safe,” said Stephen Jenkins, Cintas Vice President of Health & Safety, who oversees the company’s VPP certification process. “Our commitment to excellence pushes us to meet rigorous standards, and we’re proud of our employee-partners for consistently maintaining safe and healthy worksites.”
