Christian Wilkins' former Dolphins teammate calls 'BS' on Raiders rumors

Christian Wilkins' former teammate with the Miami Dolphins, Terron Armstead, has a choice word for the rumors surrounding Wilkins' release from the Las Vegas Raiders.

In case you haven't been following the story, the Raiders announced they released Wilkins because there was "no clear path or plan for future return to play."

Wilkins suffered a Jones fracture in 2024 that cut his season short and suffered setbacks in his recovery after that.

A report from The Athletic revealed Las Vegas wanted Wilkins to get surgery, but the veteran defensive lineman declined.

But that wasn't the only rumored reason for Wilkins' release. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Wilkins gave a teammate a "playful" kiss on the head, but the Raiders player did not take kindly to it and reported Wilkins to human resources.

Armstead addressed the situation on his podcast and called "bull****" on both of those rumors.

"I call bull**** on that right out the gate," Armstead said of the injury rumor. "If you want to label somebody lazy, that don't care, they're not working hard, they're not doing what they're supposed to do — being a professional — Christian would be the last person you could throw that label on."

"The dude is obsessed with football. He's obsessed with work. He loves it, he loves the game, he loves the sport, he loves the thought of it. So, being a professional, he attack every day with 100% intention. So, no, him being unprofessional, him being lazy, no question, that's not happening," the retired offensive lineman added.

Here's what Armstead said about the kiss rumor.

"Again, I'm calling bull****," Armstead said. "I don't see that being a reason to release a player that was probably the No. 1-rated free agent last year."

"I don't have the facts. I don't have the details," he admitted. "A kiss on top of the head or whatever that is that Adam Schefter had reported, it doesn't make sense to release a guy you're paying $27 million a year for anything non-football-related."

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio has strongly hinted that whatever took place with Wilkins and a teammate, which is believed to be fellow defensive lineman Adam Butler, is worse than what Schefter is reporting.

Since his release, the NFLPA has filed a grievance on Wilkins' behalf and is seeking to get the $35.2 million in guarantees that the Raiders voided upon cutting him loose.

We'll see how that turns out and if more facts come to light in the days and weeks ahead, but for now Armstead isn't buying the rumors.
