Christian McCaffrey puts in offseason grind for next generation as 49ers RB pulls off 72-hour marathon youth camp in 5 cities [PICS]

Christian McCaffrey hosted youth camps in five different cities over three days during the weekend. The San Francisco 49ers superstar took advantage of free time during the offseason to host kids in Bakersfield, Fresno, San Jose, Sacramento, and Santa Rosa.

Youth camps are a feature for many NFL players during the offseason, and the running back did no different. With the San Francisco 49ers concluding their mandatory minicamp on June 11, there was time for the running back to make this run of five cities.

On Tuesday, McCaffrey posted several photos on Instagram recapping the events, and he added the caption:

"This weekend was such an honor! 5 cities in 3 days. Thanks to everyone who showed up! You guys are the best🙏🏼"

The camp's first stop was at San Joaquin Memorial High School in Fresno. Over 670 participants, boys and girls aged 6 to 16, reportedly attended the first camp.

“I’m honored to be here,” McCaffrey told the campers, per KMPH. “This is such a great part of the state. A lot of talent has come through here, and I can’t wait to see you guys compete.”

Christian McCaffrey was voted the Offensive Player of the Year, First-Team All-Pro and also finished third in the MVP race. He had 2,023 total yards and 21 touchdowns and scored touchdowns in all but three games as the 49ers made a Super Bowl run.

But his excellent level could not be sustained in 2024. He played in just four games before calling it a year, with the 49ers struggling and his performance hampered by injuries. He had just 202 rushing yards and scored no touchdowns throughout the season, with San Francisco limping to a 6-11 finish.

McCaffrey was a full participant in this year's offseason program, though, which is great news for the fans after an injury-riddled season.

"Being fully transparent, obviously last year didn't go the way I wanted, "McCaffrey said per CBS Bay Area on Sunday. It didn't go the way anyone wanted. "But having this time off has allowed me to start from scratch and have the time where I can build a base again, come into OTAs, play football and now get back into it mentally, emotionally, physically in all ways. It was much needed and I'm happy we had it."

49ers fans will hope Christian McCaffrey will be back to his best when the team kicks off its season against the Seattle Seahawks in September.
