Chris Tanev collapsed onto the ice after an awkward collision with Flyers' Matvei Michkov. The incident turned scary as he laid motionless on the ice, after the collision, and eventually had to be stretchered off the ice. This was the Maple Leafs D-man first game since returning from a concussion injury.
While being taken away in the stretcher, the 35-year-old D-man put up a thumbs up, as all fans and players were holding their breaths after the scary visual of him laying motionless on the ice, for a while, after the hit.
Maple Leafs HC Craig Berube provided a major Chris Tanev injury update in his post-game scrum. He revealed that Tanev was taken to a nearby hospital in Philadelphia and undergoing tests there. Berube also added that Chris Tanev was moving around, squashing rumours of any sort of paralysis suffered from after the collision.
The Toronto Maple Leafs will potentially lose Chris Tanev for some time again, after tonight.
