Chris Martin Puts Dakota Johnson Breakup Rumors to Rest Once and For All

Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson's romance looks something just like this.

The Coldplay frontman and the Fifty Shades of Grey alum stepped out for an early morning date May 19, hitting up a yoga studio in Malibu, Calif.

For the casual outing, Chris, 48, donned a gray T-shirt and blue gym shorts, which he paired with a black baseball cap reading "Kiiid."

Meanwhile, Dakota, 35, wore a beige workout bra, black leggings, brown Birkenstock sandals and dark sunglasses. She completed her look by wearing her signature brunette hair in two long braids.

The couple—who have been quietly dating since 2017 and are reportedly engaged—certainly worked up a sweat, leaving their yoga class together with their sweaters in hand.

The sighting comes nine months after Chris and Dakota faced rumors they had called it quits. However, a rep told E! News in August that the breakup speculation was "not true," adding that the "Fix You" singer and the Madame Web star are "happily together."

Four months later, Chris alluded to his longtime relationship with Dakota, telling Rolling Stone, "It is important to say that [romantic love] is such a big factor in everything, even though it feels right to keep it precious and private."

He added at the time, "I'm not denying its power."

In the same interview, the musician listed Dakota as one of his best friends alongside his Coldplay bandmates, his manager Phil Harvey and kids Apple Martin, 21, and Moses Martin, 19, who he shares with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow.

And Gwyneth has publicly given the pair her seal of approval. In fact, the Oscar winner—who split from Chris in 2014, before tying the knot with Brad Falchuk in 2018—considers herself and Dakota to be good friends.

"I can see how it would seem weird because it's sort of unconventional," Gwyneth told Harper's Bazaar in 2020. "But I think, in this case, just having passed through it iteratively, I just adore her."

She added, "I always start to think of the ampersand sign—what else can you bring in, instead of being resistant to or being made insecure by? There's so much juice in leaning into something like that."
