Chilifest is the spring event in Aggieland, and 2026 had all the makings of a signature weekend. The Brazos Valley hosted Texas A&M baseball against Jim Schlossnagle and the Longhorns, Aggie ring ceremonies, and tens of thousands headed to Snook for the two-day festival.
Sam Barber opened Friday night. Parker McCollum was set to close it out Saturday, he never got the chance. Overnight rain turned the grounds into an impassable mess, and organizers pulled the plug Saturday morning, cancelling Day Two entirely.
We are deeply saddened to announce that the Saturday, April 11, 2026 portion of Chilifest has been cancelled,” the organization said in a statement. “The unprecedented mud conditions have made it impossible to access the parking areas, ride share location and to provide ingress and egress of the event. Chilifest has no choice but to cancel the remainder of the festival.”
The full statement was posted across socials and on their website.
Chilifest traces back to the early 1990s, when Sigma Alpha Epsilon hosted a small chili fundraiser in a Walmart parking lot. By 1999, Chilifest Inc. had formed to manage what had grown into a full-scale music festival in Snook, Texas, eventually drawing crowds of over 35,000.
