The Kansas City Chiefs are 4-0 on the season, the only undefeated team from the AFC this season. Sitting atop the AFC West, the Chiefs have every reason to go out and make trades, with wide receiver upgrades being a clear need to try to fill.
They came into the year with a need at the position, and then, during a breakout game, Tyquan Thornton suffered a brutal ankle injury that ended his season. So, with a big wide receiver need, a reunion with Tyreek Hill became the talk of the town.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler is reporting that the Chiefs are indeed signing a veteran free agent WR, reuniting with a WR who helped the Chiefs win a Super Bowl. But it's not Hill. Instead, it's Justin Watson.
Chiefs to sign Justin Watson as FA addition to WR room, not Tyreek Hill
"Some roster movement in Kansas City: Per head coach Andy Reid, the Chiefs are placing WR Tyquan Thornton on Injured Reserve, elevating LB Cam Jones from the practice squad and signing WR Justin Watson to the practice squad," Fowler reports.
The Chiefs' offense is in dire need of more wide receiver help. While Rashee Rice is a bit banged up, he should be good to go moving forward; Xavier Worthy hasn't broken out, and depth options in Jalen Royals and Cyrus Allen haven't done much.
Watson, a veteran free agent receiver who has plenty of experience being a complementary receiver in his career, is joining Kansas City's practice squad as some extra depth.

He might not see a lot of volume, but Watson is the kind of WR that Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes can trust in this offense right from the moment he joins the team.
Don't count out the Chiefs from looking to the trade market for more WR help, or even still consider a reunion with Hill.
But, at least for now, it appears that the wide receiver addition for the Chiefs heading into Week 5 against the banged-up and 0-5 Los Angeles Chargers is Watson, a three-time Super Bowl champion who is very familiar with Mahomes and this offense.
