Chiefs seeking RB trade in market that may include Alvin Kamara, Breece Hall

The Kansas City Chiefs are always trying to improve.

That's especially true this season with them off to a 2-3 start.

"The Kansas City Chiefs are also among the teams asking about running backs, sources say," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Saturday night with less than a month until the trade deadline.

Two names expected to be called about, Rapoport writes, are New Orleans Saints star Alvin Kamara and New York Jets star Breece Hall.

The problem with those guys, Rapoport adds: Neither wants to be traded.

So the Chiefs may have to look for a less glamorous name.

Kansas City's backfield currently consists of Isiah Pacheco, Kareem Hunt and Brashard Smith.

Pacheco has never been the same since his broken leg.

Hunt is getting older and slower by the day (to be fair, aren't we all?).

Smith is a seventh-round rookie with speed and pass-catching ability but no proven track record.

It definitely makes sense for the Chiefs to pursue a deal. Running backs sometimes feel like they can pop up out of nowhere, but it also makes trading for one tough.

Who will really fit into the Andy Reid system? It can be hard to say until someone arrives.

It's safe to say the Chiefs will make calls, though.

That's especially true because Rapoport also writes that the Los Angeles Chargers will seek a RB after injuries to Najee Harris and Omarion Hampton. And with the Chargers a game ahead of the Chiefs in the AFC West, they could be battling for the same running back trade and for the same playoff spot.
