Arrowhead Stadium has arguably been the center of the NFL since Patrick Mahomes debuted, hosting numerous AFC championship games and critical primetime matchups.
As the Chiefs try to get their dynasty back on track in the short-term, they are preparing for a move in the long term.
A new stadium is on the horizon, as announced by the franchise in December. That includes a move from Missouri to Kansas after decades at Arrowhead.
Here's a first look at the Chiefs' new stadium after the team released its first renderings on Wednesday.

As expected, the stadium will have a clear glass roof, which is a departure from the outdoor, often cold-weather conditions the Chiefs have dealt with at their current home.
The "bowl" portion of the new stadium is designed to resemble Arrowhead's unique shape, but the roof makes it a bit more difficult to tell. The stadium also sticks with a traditional scoreboard behind the end zone, rather than an AT&T Stadium-style video board suspended over the field or a SoFi Stadium-style scoreboard that goes around the field.
With a clear glass roof, the Chiefs' new stadium has many similarities to planned or proposed new stadiums for the Titans, Commanders, Broncos, Bears and Browns.

The Chiefs are planning to open their new stadium in 2031, so they still have five more seasons to play at Arrowhead Stadium. Patrick Mahomes will turn 36 near the opening of the new stadium.

Where is the Chiefs new stadium?
The Chiefs will move from Kansas City, Missouri to Kansas City, Kansas when their new stadium opens in 2031. While the move isn't too far geographically, the franchise worked out a stadium deal with officials in an entirely different state in 2025 to set the stage for the new venue.

The Chiefs say their new stadium will cost a total of $3 billion. For comparison, the Bills' new stadium cost $1.7 billion, while the Titans' new stadium, set to open in 2027, will cost an estimated $2.1 billion.
