The Kansas City Chiefs created a mini midweek crisis for the New York Jets.
The back-to-back Super Bowl champions claimed Jets' kicker Spencer Shrader off the Practice Squad to fill in for the injured Harrison Butker. This past Sunday, Shrader handled the kicking duties for New York, which does not currently have a kicker on its 53-man roster.
The end result is that the Jets will have a different kicker for the fourth game in a row when they host the Indianapolis Colts on November 17 at MetLife Stadium.
After placing struggling veteran starter Greg Zuerlein onto Injured Reserve, the Green & White added Riley Patterson and Spencer Shrader to the mix. Patterson landed on the active roster but was released after one game. Last week, Shrader was designated as a gameday elevation and accounted for all six of the team's points in the lopsided loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Fortunately, the Jets also added former Green Bay Packers' draft pick Anders Carlson onto the Practice Squad last Friday. With Carlson currently the lone kicker remaining at 1 Jets Drive, it's presumed that he'll do the job on Sunday against the Colts.
"Looking for a live leg. We brought a guy in that's got a live leg, that's kicked in the NFL," said Jets' interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich heading into the Week 10 road trip to Arizona.

Carlson kicked in all 17 games for Packers as a rookie in 2023, missing five extra points while posting an 81.8 percent FG success rate.
After being released by Green Bay in late August, Carlson resurfaced on a P-Squad contract with the San Francisco 49ers in mid-October. The sixth-round draft pick made two appearances for the 49ers, going 5-for-5 on field goal tries.
