The Kansas City Chiefs need to address their pass protection and may turn to the trade market to do so. They could swing a blockbuster trade with the Arizona Cardinals.
Jonah Williams signed a two-year, $30 million deal with the Cardinals last offseason. However, Pro Football Network's Sterling Xie tabbed him as a trade candidate and the Chiefs as a fit. The Chiefs signed Jaylon Moore to play left tackle, but that does not mean they are set at the position.
"The Chiefs are risking a potential Super Bowl run on Jaylon Moore succeeding as a starter for the first time, which would make an insurance policy like Williams valuable to have," wrote Xie.
Last season, Joe Thuney ended up playing left tackle, but even he is gone now. Williams was the 11th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and has started 65 games in his career. On an expiring contract, he could be a candidate to be dealt.
"The Cardinals know their long-term left tackle will be Paris Johnson Jr.," wrote Xie. "The other tackle spot is more of an open question, with Jonah Williams and Kelvin Beachum both playing on one-year deals. If the Cardinals end up looking to the draft for a long-term solution at that spot, Williams could become a valuable trade chip given the dearth of starting-caliber tackles. Williams has experience at both left tackle and right tackle, which would also help his trade value. Although he had an abbreviated six-game season due to a knee injury, his 3.2% pressure allowed rate was also the best in any season of his career."

Williams would give the Chiefs flexibility in building their offensive line. Mahomes was under constant pressure in the Super Bowl, and surely, teams will try to mimic what the Philadelphia Eagles did throughout the season. Williams and Moore could compete for the left tackle spot as the Chiefs try to make sure they are not dismantled up front like they were in the Super Bowl. The Chiefs could even explore changing one of their positions to keep them in the starting lineup.
