Chiefs coach gets 'goosebumps' thinking about Rashee Rice return

Most Kansas City Chiefs fans have circled the Week 7 game against the Las Vegas Raiders as one they simply can't wait for. Why? Because that is Rashee Rice's return.

Having now completed his six-game suspension, Rice is slated to return to Andy Reid and Matt Nagy's offense against the Raiders as Patrick Mahomes finally gets his best weapon back on the field with Kansas City looking to go over .500 with a win.

Yes, this moment feels like it has been a long time coming, and the excitement from everyone in the building has been felt, and here comes Nagy with his thoughts on seeing No. 4 hit the field on Sunday.

“I get goosebumps just thinking about when he goes out there and what he does to this offense,” Nagy said. “There’s an excitement that you have, remember, he hasn’t played for a little while, so there’s a little bit of realness to it too."

Should Chiefs temper Rice expectations?

Well, I would, and it appears that Nagy is thinking along similar lines. After all, Rice hasn't played for six weeks, and no amount of practice reps can prepare you for those first handful of plays in live NFL action.

So, those who think Rice will catch 10 passes for 100+ yards might have to rethink that, although it wouldn't surprise us to see Rice heavily involved, at least early in the game.

Reid stated earlier in the week the Chiefs will be getting Rice back into the swing of things, and it remains to be seen just how many snaps he will play on Sunday, but I'd imagine a cautious approach will be taken as the Chiefs have so many weapons that they don't need Rice to be great, he can just plod along and work himself back into football shape.

Nagy is getting goosebumps thinking about Rice's return, and I'd imagine Rashee is too.
