The Kansas City Chiefs don't have as good of a WR depth chart as they would've hoped.
Xavier Worthy hasn't quite blossomed into a star, and Rashee Rice's off-field trouble has made things more complicated.
With a superstar quarterback in Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs certainly don't want to sell their passing game short.
There might be a solution still sitting out there in free agency, though, and that's Deebo Samuel.
In a new article on Thursday, ESPN's Aaron Schatz writes that the Chiefs' one remaining major task this offseason should be to sign Samuel in order to help mitigate some of the Rice uncertainty.
"The Rashee Rice situation is fairly confusing for the Chiefs," Schatz writes. "Coach Andy Reid says that Rice will be healthy enough for training camp, but is he going to face a suspension from the league for off-field conduct? It would be good for the Chiefs to find another strong slot target who can be insurance for Rice and can provide wide receiver depth on the outside."

The long-time 49ers star just spent a lone season with the Washington Commanders and was solid, but they don't seem interested in bringing him back.
The Chiefs could certainly use him, and head coach Andy Reid would likely come up with some fun ways to use the versatile Samuel in his offense.
"Enter veteran Samuel," Schatz writes. "He had a bit of an off 2025 season with a career-low 10.1 yards per reception with the Commanders, but he still managed to gain 727 receiving yards with five touchdowns. At age 30, there's probably still something left in the tank, and his ability to also take carries from the backfield makes him extra fun for Reid to play with in his game-planning."
Samuel feels like exactly the sort of guy made for the Chiefs.
It's not totally clear whether he remains a free agent because he's asking for too much or because the interest is actually lukewarm.
The Chiefs could definitely use him, though.
