Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has always made it clear that his aim is to return from his ACL injury in time to start in Week 1.
For most, that is a rather ambitious goal, but it is one that Mahomes clearly feels he can make.
Now, the likelihood that Mahomes starts in Week 3 or Week 4 could be seen as more of a chance, but we know that once No. 15 has something in his mind, he'll do all he can to make it a reality.
And for head coach Andy Reid, who was at the NFL owners meeting, he gave an update on Patrick that will have Chiefs Kingdom rather intrigued.
"He's doing great," Reid said via NFL.com. "He spends a ton of time in the building. ... He's in there for seven hours a day. It's showing, the progress. Now, to tell you a timeline? I mean, I know what he's striving for. We'll just see where it goes from there."

Reid knows Mahomes timeline
Reid knows exactly what Patrick is aiming for, and that's a Week 1 start.
But for that to happen, he would need, we think, at least a month or so of consistent training in the offseason, during training camp.
That is likely a bare minimum given how long he's been out for. The video of him slowly dropping back and passing made the rounds on social media, so positive strides are being made.
But we get the sense that Patrick is a long way from starting, given where he is in his rehab.
However, Reid knows what Patrick wants. Time will tell if he gets it.
