Chelsea look to thrust themselves back into the UEFA Champions League qualifying positions as they host Tottenham Hotspur in Premier League action on Thursday.
The Blues sit sixth in the domestic standings and can move as high as fourth with a win today. Knowing the top five will likely qualify for Europe's top competition next season, they are well in the mix for a spot but need to make a move soon.
Chelsea will likely have Cole Palmer back, the England star having missed the international break due to a fitness concern but reportedly recovering in time for Spurs' visit. The Blues are also thought likely to have Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke available after they've returned from a lengthy injury absence, as reinforcements up front arrive in one big wave.

Tottenham, meanwhile, sit 14th in the table as their disappointing, injury-stricken season continues. Ange Postecoglou seemed to have turned a corner with Spurs after back-to-back victories over Manchester United and Ipswich Town, but it's all gone awry since then, as they've failed to win three straight in league play and barely qualified for the Europa League quarterfinals past Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.

Chelsea vs. Tottenham live updates, highlights and commentary
2 hours to kickoff: While Cole Palmer's presence in the lineup will always draw the biggest headlines, the likely return of Nicolas Jackson will be the source of the biggest sigh of relief for Chelsea fans. The Blues have struggled mightily to replace Jackson up front, as Christopher Nkunku has been an enormous disappointment in his stead.
After Jackson was extremely poor in front of goal last season, it speaks volumes about his development, improvement, and progression that he's been so sorely missed when absent in 2024/25, and he will look to return in style whether in the lineup or off the bench.
It sounds like it's more likely to come as a substitute for now.
🚨🔵 Enzo Maresca on Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson:
“Yes [all are fit to start vs Spurs]. Probably Nico and Noni, no [they cannot play the full 90], because they come back after two months, and Cole is just in case he has to play 90 minutes.”#CFC

Chelsea vs. Tottenham lineups, team news
After missing the Arsenal match and withdrawing from England duty, the availability of Cole Palmer following the international break has been the subject of questions over the last week, but it appears that he will be fit to take the field.
There is more good news as well, as Nico Jackson and Noni Madueke are back in training and targeting this match for their long-awaited returns, but both will likely come off the bench at this stage Maresca confirmed. The absence of Jackson since early February has been hard to swallow, as Christopher Nkunku has been poor in his stead, while the likes of Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho have been a similar drop-off out wide from the influential Madueke's standards.
Normally Jackson and Madueke would need to gain fitness off the bench before being ready to start, but on the back end of an international break, it's possible they could both slot straight back into the XI. The Blues are still without Marc Guiu, who should return in the near future from a hamstring injury, but are otherwise fully fit for the stretch run of the season.
Chelsea projected starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Sanchez (GK) — James, Colwill, Badiashile, Cucurella — Fernandez, Caicedo — Sancho, Palmer, Neto — Nkunku

While the sheer number of individuals on Tottenham's absentee list has shrunk considerably over the last month, the effect this injury-stricken season has had on the squad remains evident. Ange Postecoglou has a host of exhausted players on his hands, evident in the club's 2-0 defeat to Fulham prior to the international break where he was forced to rest players like Son Heung-min and James Maddison from the start.
It's unclear when Dejan Kulusevski will return, as he has been dealing with a foot injury for much of the season that finally left him sidelined prior to the international window. It's also not clear how fit Richarlison is, after he pulled out of Brazil duty with a calf injury.
Still missing are Radu Dragusin, who is out for the season, and Kevin Danso who is expected to return in the next few weeks from his hamstring injury.
Tottenham projected starting lineup (4-3-3): Vicario (GK) — Spence, Romero, Davies, Udogie — Bissouma, Maddison, Bentancur — Son, Solanke, Tel
