Chelsea Premier League fixtures: Start and run-in for the 2026/27 season

Another season, another new era at Chelsea.

The Blues will kick off 2026/27 with Xabi Alonso in the dugout and there will be plenty of intrigue over how the Spanish head coach performs following his deeply contrasting experiences at Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid.

Manchester City-bound Enzo Maresca's mid-season departure last term preceded a chaotic period, during which Liam Rosenior was appointed and sacked, and Chelsea missed out on Champions League qualification.

Here, we break down Chelsea's start to the campaign and the season run-in, along with some of their standout fixtures of the year to come.

Chelsea 2026/27 Premier League fixtures: First five matches

Chelsea begin their season with a short Monday-night trip across west London to Fulham on August 24.

Home games against Brighton and newly promoted Hull City come either side of a showdown with champions Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.

After the final international break of the season, Chelsea face their return west London derby against Fulham on April 10 before travelling to Brighton. They have lost each of their past four games against the Seagulls in all competitions. 

If Alonso's team (we'll assume the trigger-happy Chelsea hierarchy still have him in charge) manage to get through that run in contention, a home match against Manchester City followed by back-to-back trips to Liverpool and Tottenham will further test their mettle.

Chelsea 2026/27 key fixtures:

After their early-season trip to Arsenal, Chelsea welcome Mikel Arteta's side to Stamford Bridge on March 13.

Games between Chelsea and Liverpool developed an intensity during the Jose Mourinho vs. Rafael Benitez era that has not truly waned. The Reds visit west London on December 5 prior to that mouthwatering clash at Anfield during the run-in.

There's also a late-season showdown with Tottenham, who visit Stamford Bridge on October 24.
