Chelsea legend spots big change in star midfielder after Brentford clash

Moises Caicedo has established himself as perhaps the most important player in the Chelsea squad over the last two years.

He once again proved his importance to the club by scoring a crucial goal for the team against Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday.

Caicedo’s goal would have been the match-winner for Chelsea, had Fabio Carvalho not scored a controversial equaliser late on.

While the result saw the Blues drop points for the second time this season, they can still brag about an unbeaten start to the season.

However, the Ecuadorian’s good performances have not gone unnoticed as a Chelsea legend has showered him with praise after the club’s last game.

Gianfranco Zola heaped praise on Caicedo’s recent performances and highlighted one big change in the midfielder’s game.

Despite Chelsea dropping points against Brentford on Saturday night, Zola could find the silver lining in the performance and underlined some impressive performances by the players.

The Italian legend praised the quality of Cole Palmer’s goal against Brentford and had some positive words to say about Caicedo, too.

Zola told Sky Sports that he was impressed with how Caicedo has added goal-scoring to his abilities in recent months.

He said, “Caicedo has grown up a lot. In the last year and a half, he’s got better at finishing. This is not the first important goal he has scored. Pure strike.”

The midfielder found the net in the big derby win against West Ham, as well as in the Conference League final against Real Betis, to cap off a brilliant European campaign.

Now that Caicedo has added goal-scoring to his repertoire, if he can find a way to consistently keep scoring, he can develop into a complete midfielder.
