Chelsea learn asking price for key transfer target

Chelsea may currently be focusing on signing attackers right now, but one can be assured that they will soon turn their attention to their defence.

The Blues are on the verge of signing Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund and once that is complete, one can expect them to sign some defensive reinforcements.

Enzo Maresca’s team is said to be in the market for a new centre-back and have been linked with some promising names from around the world.

One defender whom Chelsea could look to bring in this summer is Bayer Leverkusen star Piero Hincapie.

It is thought that Chelsea scouted Hincapie last year, and the centre-back now appears to be one potential target for them.

According to CaughtOffside, the Blues have Hincapie on their shortlist and have the possibility of signing him for €60m (£51m) because of a release clause in his contract.

The Blues also have the option of enticing Hincapie to join Stamford Bridge with the possibility of linking up with his Ecuadorian compatriot Moises Caicedo.

If the Conference League winners cannot sign Hincapie for whatever reason or cool their interest in him, they have other options.

For instance, Chelsea are said to be interested in Ousmane Diomande of Sporting Lisbon as well.

Ideally, Chelsea should sign an experienced centre-back who would be able to lead from the back and guide the likes of Levi Colwill, Trevoh Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo.
