Chelsea are back in business in the ongoing summer transfer window after lifting the Club World Cup.
Enzo Maresca has already made some major additions to his squad this summer, including Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, who were instrumental in the Blues' victory in the competition.
Now, it appears that Chelsea are planning on further strengthening their squad ahead of the upcoming season and are reportedly interested in signing one of the Manchester City stars, Nico O'Reilly.
Chelsea have made an enquiry to Man City this week to potentially bring O'Reilly to Stamford Bridge for the 2025/26 campaign, as reported by journalist Simon Phillips via Substack.
Several reports suggested that this is the second time Chelsea have reached out to Man City for O'Reilly, as the Blues did the same during the January transfer window.
O'Reilly has also attracted interest from other Premier League teams as well as from Bundesliga clubs, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Will Manchester City be open to selling Nico O'Reilly?
O'Reilly started his senior career at the Etihad in 2024 and made only nine appearances in the Premier League, while also featuring in matches for Man City's youth team.
Romano also reported that several clubs are ready to offer the Man City graduate regular minutes on the pitch in their first team, which can be a priority for the 20-year-old.
As for Man City's take on O'Reilly's situation, back in April, head coach Pep Guardiola hailed the Englishman's abilities on the pitch and said,
"He’s not really a left-back… He is an attacking midfielder… He has arrived from the academy and is helping us a lot. I am more than grateful. He is taking his opportunity," as per BBC Sport.
Man City also reportedly turned down Chelsea's initial enquiry about O'Reilly at the beginning of this year.
With his contract valid until the summer of 2028, it seems unlikely that Guardiola & Co. would let go of one of their talented academy graduates. However, a significant offer might make Man City reconsider.
