The start of Liam Rosenior's tenure as \ manager has been a whirlwind.
After taking over for the sacked Enzo Maresca, he suffered his first defeat of this managerial spell in a 3-2 loss to Arsenal in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semifinals. Despite following up that setback with a run of five straight victories, the latest a thrilling multi-goal comeback against West Ham, they could not complete a turnaround in the second leg against the Gunners.
A comfortable road win over Wolves followed, while their return home against Leeds proved more difficult in a 2-2 draw.
Having breezed past Rosenior's former side Hull City in the FA Cup, they now return to Premier League action against relegation-threatened Burnley.

Chelsea injury list
Below is the latest injury picture for Chelsea, including estimated return dates for those who are sidelined.
Marc Cucurella
- Injury: Hamstring
- Expected return date: March
Marc Cucurella was hooked at halftime of the draw with Leeds, and will miss time with a hamstring injury. The extent of the injury isn't public yet, as Liam Rosenior said on February 19 that they did not have a timeline just yet. It's will be a huge absence for the Blues as they will be without one of their minutes leaders across each of the past few years.
Jamie Gittens
- Injury: Hamstring
- Expected return date: March/April
Gittens departed after 25 minutes in the comeback win over West Ham, having picked up a hamstring injury. Tests confirmed he had suffered a muscle tear, so he is facing a few weeks out at least. Liam Rosenior described it as "long-term" which is never good.
Romeo Lavia
- Injury: Thigh
- Expected return date: March 1 (vs. Arsenal)
Lavia has not featured since the first week of November due to a thigh problem. Rosenior gave him a time frame of between 10 days and two weeks on February 9, so it looks possible he could return against Arsenal if Burnley on February 21 comes too soon.
Filip Jorgensen
- Injury: Hamstring
- Expected return date: March 1 (vs. Arsenal)
The Chelsea backup goalkeeper has missed four games, and is not ready to return to the squad just yet as Liam Rosenior said prior to the FA Cup visit to Hull City on February 12 that Jorgensen is "not fully fit at the moment." It's unclear when he will return.
Dario Essugo
- Injury: Unspecified
- Expected return date: March
Essugo is still yet to make his Chelsea debut and suffered another setback having recently returned to training from a thigh injury.
Rosenior told his press conference prior to the Crystal Palace match in January that the player had "slipped in training" and would be out for a month. Given how long he has been absent, it would likely take him multiple weeks to ramp back up to full match fitness, and he's been removed from the Champions League roster to make room for Malang Sarr.
Levi Colwill
- Injury: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear
- Expected return date: June 2026
Colwill suffered an ACL tear in preseason and will miss the full campaign. The England international is still in the early stages of his rehabilitation.
Mykhailo Mudryk
- Suspension: Doping
- Expected return date: Unknown
Ukraine international Mudryk has not been available for selection since December 2024 after failing a doping test.
