The start of Liam Rosenior's tenure as Chelsea manager has been a whirlwind.

After taking over for the sacked Enzo Maresca, he began his managerial spell with a 3-2 loss to Arsenal in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semifinals but has followed up that setback with a run of five straight victories, the latest a thrilling multi-goal comeback against West Ham.

Now, Rosenior will hope to exact revenge on Arsenal in the second leg of their Carabao Cup meeting, trailing by a goal on aggregate.

The Sporting News brings you the latest Chelsea team news, injury updates, and more ahead of their next game.

Chelsea injury list

Below is the latest injury picture for Chelsea, including estimated return dates for those who are sidelined.

Jamie Gittens

  • Injury: Hamstring
  • Expected return date: Unknown

Jamie Gittens departed after 25 minutes in the comeback win over West Ham, having picked up a hamstring injury. Tests are needed to determine the extent of the injury and figure out when he will be available to return.

Tosin Adarabioyo

  • Injury: Hamstring
  • Expected return date: February

Rosenior confirmed the centre-back is out "for the next few weeks" with a hamstring injury. A return in mid-February is likely.

Filip Jorgensen

  • Injury: Hamstring
  • Expected return date: early February

The Chelsea backup goalkeeper was absent from Premier League wins over Crystal Palace and West Ham, but Liam Rosenior said he would be back soon, either for the second leg against Arsenal or the league match against Wolves shortly after.

Dario Essugo

  • Injury: Unspecified
  • Expected return date: Late February

Essugo is still yet to make his Chelsea debut and suffered another setback having recently returned to training from a thigh injury.

Rosenior told his press conference prior to the Crystal Palace that the player had "slipped in training" and would be out for a month.

Romeo Lavia

  • Injury: Thigh
  • Expected return date: January 28 (vs. Napoli)

Lavia has not featured since the first week of November due to a thigh problem. It is hoped he could feature in the squad for the Napoli game, but Rosenior may be wary of rushing him back.

Levi Colwill

  • Injury: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear
  • Expected return date: June 2026

Colwill suffered an ACL tear in preseason and will miss the full campaign. The England international is still in the early stages of his rehabilitation.

Mykhailo Mudryk

  • Suspension: Doping
  • Expected return date: Unknown

Ukraine international Mudryk has not been available for selection since December 2024 after failing a doping test.

In addition to the players with various fitness concerns, Estevao has departed the squad for personal reasons, with Liam Rosenior saying he's "going through a really difficult time." The Chelsea boss "won't put any pressure on him" and therefore it's not known when he will return.
