Chelsea are in the middle of a busy transfer window and have been linked to a number of attacking players.
This, despite adding Liam Delap from Ipswich Town earlier this month. In particular, Joao Pedro is tipped for a potential move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
It’s been claimed that Chelsea are preparing an offer for Brighton attacker Pedro, but that Premier League rivals Newcastle United are also lining up a bid.
According to journalist Simon Philips on his Substack, Pedro is attracting interest from Chelsea, but nothing has advanced yet after contacting the player’s agent at the start of June.
Reportedly, Newcastle are the suitor who is more advanced in the race to sign the 23-year-old Brazilian attacker. In fact, they are ‘expected’ to be the club that gets a transfer deal over the line.
Even though Chelsea are considering a move, it sounds like Newcastle are in pole position to bring the Brighton frontman to St James’ Park.

However, Pedro would be keen on Chelsea discussions if a deal is agreed with Brighton.
The two Premier League clubs are certainly very familiar with each other because the Blues signed the likes of Marc Cucurella, Moises Caicedo and Robert Sanchez from them in recent years.
Pedro has an impressive record at Brighton since joining the Seagulls two years back. In 70 appearances across all competitions, he has managed 30 goals and 10 assists.
However, it remains to be seen whether he can do it at a club that plays Champions League football.
