Chargers Week 17 inactives: Will J.K. Dobbins play against Patriots?

15 hours ago 1

The Los Angeles Chargers will be without some big offensive pieces on Saturday which makes the fact that they have an early kickoff on the East Coast a little more troubling. They face a 3-12 New England Patriots team that has been bad but has remained competitive lately.

The Chargers will be without will be without Gus Edwards. That's the bad news. The good news is that J.K. Dobbins will suit up and be the team's lead back for the first time since being placed on injured reserve with a knee injury following a Week 12 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Dobbins has rushed for 766 yards and eight touchdowns on the season and the team's running game took a noticeable hit without him.

The rest of the team's inactive list looks like this:

#Chargers inactives

RB Gus Edwards (ankle)
LB Denzel Perryman (groin)
RG Trey Pipkins (hip)
TE Hayden Hurst (illness)
DL Justin Eboigbe
OL Jordan McFadden
QB Easton Stick (emergency 3rd)

Without Trey Pipkins, Jamaree Salyer should draw the start at guard. There was some thought that Jordan McFadden may be active for the game but the Chargers have chosen to make him a healthy scratch, per usual.

Hayden Hurst, fresh off returning to the lineup, will be unable to go due to an illness. However, Will Dissly will be back in the lineup and Stone Smartt could get some looks as well.

The list of inactive players for the Patriots has also been released, but it doesn't include any major surprises.

The Chargers and Patriots kick off at 10:00 am PT and the game will be televised on the NFL Network. Chris Rose and Ross Tucker will call the action.

With a win, the Chargers will officially qualify for the playoffs.
