Chargers star reminds coach of 'young Jimmy Harbaugh'

Jim Harbaugh has a way with words.

The Los Angeles Chargers head coach finds a way to say amusing things on the microphone, whether intentionally or unintentionally. And his latest comments are quite goofy.

Harbaugh was praising his superstar safety, Derwin James. We'll let you read the whole thing:

"Derwin James, to me, it's like looking in the mirror," Harbaugh said, via Chargers.com. "I see a young Jimmy Harbaugh every I watch him. It's like two peas in a pod as my grandma Marie Harbaugh used to say. If you're Derwin James, if you like football, you're going to like Derwin James and Derwin James is going to like you back. Then we're going to roll."

Absolutely classic stuff.

No word yet on if James enjoys being compared to a "young Jimmy Harbaugh."

And shoutout to Jim's grandma Marie.

Seriously, what an incredible sequence of words to put together.

James, of course, is an absolute stud. He has made four Pro Bowls, and he has four 100-tackle seasons.

He has lived up to the hype as a 2018 first-round pick, and he'll be a big key in the Chargers' 2025 season as they make a run at dethroning the Chiefs in the AFC West.

Harbaugh doesn't hide his feelings about his players, and that's certainly true with James here. The head coach is a big fan, just as the rest of Chargers nation feels about James. And he's set up for another big season ahead.
