The Los Angeles Chargers are already underway at training camp, but one of their veterans has decided the NFL is no longer for him.
Wide receiver Mike Williams is retiring, according to ESPN and NFL Network.
Williams is 30 years old.
The Chargers chose Williams No. 7 overall in 2017 out of Clemson.
He grew to be one of the best jump-ball winners in the NFL. Even when Williams wasn't open, he was open.
He played his first seven seasons with the Chargers before splitting the 2024 season between the Jets and Steelers.

Williams returned to the Chargers for this season, but evidently decided he didn't have football snaps left in him.
Williams had two 1,000-yard seasons.
In 2019, he needed only 49 catches to get 1,001 yards, leading the NFL with 20.4 yards per catch.
In 2021, Williams totaled 76 receptions for 1,146 yards and nine touchdowns.
Williams also had a career-high 10 TD catches back in 2018.
He finished his career with 309 grabs for 4,806 yards and 31 scores.
Williams likely would've lined up in three-wide formations this season with Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey.
There'll have to be a competition for that role now, likely between second-round rookie Tre Harris and the speedy Derius Davis.
