Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is looking to guide his side on a national championship run. Kiffin has led his side to a 9-1 record, and their next game is against the Florida Gators in Week 12.

College football analyst Joel Klatt believes that the veteran HC is up for a big payday at the end of the current campaign. While speaking on his show, Klatt said,

"There’s an old coaching adage out there that the quickest way to be defeated is to be distracted."

He continued,

"I think that the biggest threat to Ole Miss down the stretch is distraction. And that distraction in the form of their future head coach. I don’t know where Lane Kiffin will end up. I know that Ole Miss is basically telling him, ‘Hey, it’s a blank check. You tell us what you need to stay here, and we will do it.’ I have that on good authority."

He concluded, saying,

"I also have, on pretty good authority, that LSU is prepared to do the same thing for Lane Kiffin. They’ll basically tell him, ‘The keys are yours.’ Florida is a job that I think Lane would prefer over the other two, from what I’ve been told, and they are not quite in the same boat as Ole Miss and LSU in terms of ‘here, the sky is yours and name your price."

Lane Kiffin has rebuilt his career after a trying spell coaching the Oakland Raiders in the NFL. The offensive-minded head coach excelled at Tennessee, USC, and Florida Atlantic before accepting the head coaching job at Ole Miss ahead of the 2020 season.

Since then, Kiffin has led the Rebels to bowl game wins, multiple 10+ win seasons, and a reputation as one of college football's most consistent performers.

Lane Kiffin is highly sought after in the 2025 hiring cycle

That's why it's not a surprise that Lane Kiffin is a popular name in league hiring cycles. The current Ole Miss boss is heavily linked with the Florida, LSU, Penn State, and UCLA jobs at the collegiate level.

On the NFL side, the New York Giants are also reported to have interest in the coach who helped develop franchise quarterback Jaxson Dart at the collegiate level. Kiffin has his pick of the bunch across the collegiate and professional levels.

However, Kiffin seems focused on bringing a national championship to Ole Miss. The popular head coach has yet to lead his side to the pinnacle of college football, and this year could be a great chance to.

The Rebels have games against Florida and Mississippi State. Wins in these games will secure a playoff berth and the chance to go all the way in what might be Kiffin's last year with the program.
