The Boston Celtics were expected to be aggressive during the offseason, and that's been the case over the past 24 hours.
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Celtics have now officially traded Kristaps Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks in a three-team deal involving the Brooklyn Nets.
"BREAKING: Boston, Atlanta and Brooklyn are finalizing a three-team trade that sends Kristaps Porzingis and a second-round pick to the Hawks, Terance Mann and Atlanta's No. 22 pick to the Nets, and Georges Niang and a second-rounder to the Celtics," he wrote.
Getting Georges Niang and a second-round pick back for Porzingis doesn't seem like much, because it isn't.
However, given his health issues in recent years, and frankly, for much of his career, it's tough to get anything else in return. For the Celtics, this is a way to save money, which they were expected to do when entering the offseason.
Niang is a decent player, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the Celtics move on from him rather quickly. He played for the Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers a season ago, shooting 40.6% from 3-point range on 5.2 attempts per game.
That could fit in the Celtics' offense, but the rest of his game isn't exactly ideal in Boston.

Four Porzingis, he'll have an opportunity to continue playing with an above-average team with the Hawks. Atlanta is expected to make more moves in the near future, and adding Porzingis should help if he's healthy.
While things didn't go perfectly in Boston, Porzingis was still very good and ultimately helped the Celtics win a championship.
