Celtics reportedly exploring what it would take to land Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Boston Celtics are reportedly exploring all avenues to possibly acquire superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo this summer.

According to Celtics insider of the Boston Globe, Gary Washburn, Boston, while unlikely to make a move for Antetokounmpo, is still taking a look at what it would take to make the move.

"I don't think [Giannis] is going to be a Celtic," Washburn said. "That's just from what I am hearing. I think the Celtics are gauging what it would take to get Giannis to Boston and trying to figure out whether they want to move Jaylen Brown."

Washburn also added that the Celtics are evaluating how Brown would react to these rumors and if it would affect the way he plays.

Celtics could reshape roster in pursuit of Giannis

There are a ton of things the Celtics are reportedly trying to juggle, including a potential scenario where they try to acquire the two-time MVP without moving the 2024 NBA Finals MVP.

A few days ago, NBA podcaster and analyst Bill Simmons said Boston made an offer for Antetokounmpo in the past week.

"From what I heard, they made an offer in the past week," Simmons said on his podcast. "A couple days before I mentioned it on Thursday. I don't know what the offer was, and I don't know who was in it."

Kevin O'Connor of Yahoo Sports also mentioned that the Celtics are willing to trade anybody on the roster for Antetokounmpo outside of Jayson Tatum.

"I have heard Boston is shopping people around a lot right now," O'Connor said. "That Boston is making calls, Boston is open to trading anybody besides Jayson Tatum. And that doesn't necessarily mean they land Giannis at the end of the day but I do believe, based off all the conversations I've had, is that the Celtics are in on Giannis. And if they are making a push on him and that this seems to be currently a two-team race with Milwaukee to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo."

While the Celtics certainly have their hat in the Antetokounmpo ring, they are not the favorites in this sweepstakes.

The Miami Heat are the favorites to land the 10-time All-Star with -125 odds according to OddsShark. The Celtics have the next best odds at +175.

Antetokounmpo will continue to be the talk of the offseason until, if and when, he is moved.
