Celtics' president of basketball operations shuts down Jaylen Brown trade rumors

The Boston Celtics were bounced from the postseason by the New York Knicks in Game 6 of their second-round series. Their attention will turn to the offseason, where they are expected to break up their core due to financial reasons.

While changes were already likely on the horizon prior to their early postseason exit -- and Jayson Tatum suffering a torn Achilles -- there have since been rumors that they could look to move Jaylen Brown. Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens seemingly shut down that chatter during his end of the season press conference on Monday.

"The reality is we have a ton of good players," Celtics' president of basketball operations Brad Stevens claimed Monday. "And everyone leans on everyone. That said, Jaylen and Jayson have gotten the majority of attention because of how good they are. And I have full faith that any game that you have those guys on the court -- or one of those guys on the court -- you have a great shot. And so, I have full faith in Jaylen."

While Brown's name had been mentioned in trade rumors, it appears that the 2024 NBA Finals MVP won't be on the move this summer. The four-time All-Star had reportedly played with a partially torn meniscus over the final month of the regular season and the playoffs. He will be evaluated sometime this week to determine if surgery is needed.

The Celtics star appeared in all 11 postseason games, however, he struggled tremendously in the second round. Brown averaged 21.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.3 blocks per game, however, he shot just 40.4% from the field, 28.9% from three-point range and 67.6% from the free-throw line.
