For a while, it appeared that the Warriors were in the race to trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
That seems to have changed, as the team made a trade to acquire Kristaps Porzingis on Wednesday night.
Jonathan Kuminga being routed to the Hawks is a major aspect of this deal as well, but another less talked-about one is that the Warriors have reunited two former NBA champion teammates from the 2024 Celtics team.
Celtics' 2024 champions Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford reunite in Golden State
Last offseason, the Celtics blew up the core of their 2024 title team.
They didn't bring back Al Horford, so he signed with the Warriors and has played there the entire season so far.
They also traded away Kristaps Porzingis to the Hawks.

Less than 7 months after all of that happened, Porzingis and Horford now find themselves back together as teammates.
The Warriors have a tough challenge ahead of them in the West, but they just added more championship DNA to their roster to pair with Steph Curry.
Both players were a part of a talented Celtics frontcourt, especially in the 2023-24 season, and have great chemistry already.
The Warriors might not be done making moves, but Porzingis appears to be their big forward acquisition for this deadline, and it could pay off if he stays healthy.
