Celtics listening to Jrue Holiday trade offers — here’s what they want in return

A first-round pick could be the price to acquire Jrue Holiday from the Celtics.

The veteran point guard has been in the middle of trade rumors recently, and the team’s front office is looking for a first-rounder in return, plus “whatever reduced salary comes back in the deal,” per Hardwood Paroxysm

Over the weekend, Jake Fischer of the Stein Line reported that Boston is listening to calls on Holiday.

With one of the highest payrolls in the NBA, the Celtics are widely expected to engage in cost-cutting moves this offseason while looking to remain a contender.

Holiday, 34, is entering the second season of a four-year, $134 million contract with Boston.

His leadership and excellent defense were key in Boston’s run to the 2024 title, and he still holds value as a player who can contribute to a winning team — despite his age.

But the Celtics would need to find a trade partner willing — and able — to take on Holiday’s hefty contract, and be inclined to part with the draft capital to get him.

The Clippers have been mentioned as a potential suitor for Holiday, but Moore said he believes Los Angeles’ interest has been “overstated,” backing up what The Athletic’s Law Murray recently said on a podcast

A two-time All-Star, Holiday averaged 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists and shot 35.3 percent on his 3-pointers in 2024-25 — a subpar season by his standards.

The year prior, though, Holiday shot 42.9 percent from distance and was a second-team all-defense selection as Boston rolled to the title.

Forwards Kristaps Porzingis, 29, and Sam Hauser, 27 have also been mentioned in rumors as potential Celtics to be on the move, as the team looks for a path forward after Jayson Tatum ruptured his Achilles tendon in Game 4 of a second-round exit to the Knicks.
