Jayson Tatum is back.

The Boston Celtics star made his first social media appearance since suffering a devastating Achilles tear on Monday night versus the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

The 27-year-old superstar underwent successful surgery on Tuesday morning in New York City and took to Instagram on Wednesday to share an update with his fans.

Posting a photo of himself from his hospital bed, Tatum appeared in good spirits, flashing a smile despite the challenging road to recovery ahead. The caption accompanying the post read, “Thankful for all the love and support.”

Tatum’s injury sent shockwaves through the NBA.

On Tuesday night, ESPN’s Shams Charania confirmed the Achilles tear and successful surgery. The injury typically requires nine to 12 months of rehabilitation, casting uncertainty over Tatum’s availability for the 2025-26 season.

Tatum’s Instagram post, which garnered thousands of likes and comments within minutes, was met with an outpouring of support.

While the Celtics have not released an official timeline for Tatum’s return, the successful surgery marks the first step in his recovery.

Boston will lean on players like Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis to fill the void as it looks to win Game 5 on Wednesday night at TD Garden in Boston. The Celtics face an overwhelming 3-1 series deficit without their best player.

For now, Tatum’s focus remains on healing.
