The Boston Celtics have been among the league’s most active teams, and that isn’t changing anytime soon.
Since the start of the offseason, the Celtics have been among the most interesting teams in the league. The team has traded away Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis to address its financial issues, but has also had to part with Luke Kornet and likely Al Horford in unfortunate free agent moves.
However, not all hope is lost for the Celtics. With Anfernee Simons coming back in the Holiday trade, the Celtics have some optimism for the future, but Simons might not be the former Trail Blazers guard the Celtics want most.
According to a recent report from Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe, Jayson Tatum is recruiting Damian Lillard to join the Celtics. With both players coming off Achilles tears in the playoffs, it could be a perfect fit for Lillard as there would be no pressure for him to rush back.
In most other situations, Lillard would be recovering alone and could be seen as a distraction. While it appears Lillard plans to do most of his rehab on the West Coast, simply having a teammate in the same situation could provide a great mental boost.
After the Bucks waived and stretched Lillard to make room for Myles Turner to sign, the nine-time All-Star hasn’t made much noise about his potential next move. Still, if Lillard is to make any decision in the near future, it appears that Tatum is at least trying to sway him in Boston’s direction.
