The Boston Celtics have had a busy offseason as they reshaped parts of their roster. One of their most notable moves was signing NBA champion Mitchell Robinson to become their starting center.

The Celtics are coming off a season in which they believed they could have accomplished more. However, the biggest move of their offseason was trading Jaylen Brown.

“Jaylen Brown has a new home, as the Boston Celtics agreed to send the former NBA Finals MVP to the Philadelphia 76ers in a blockbuster trade Wednesday, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania. The 76ers are sending Paul George, two first-round picks (2028, 2031) and two second-round selections (2028, 2030) to Boston to complete the deal, sources said,” ESPN wrote.

Boston's decision to part ways with Brown came after a relationship that had reportedly begun to deteriorate, with his name surfacing in trade discussions over multiple years. It also came amid reports that Jayson Tatum's camp was not pleased with Brown.

“Members of Tatum's camp had expressed externally to others in league circles that they were not happy with Brown's demeanor and his angle of claiming that this was the season he enjoyed the most with the Celtics,” NBA insider Brett Siegel said.

Tatum previously posted a farewell message to Brown, whom he spent his entire NBA career playing alongside. On Wednesday, he addressed the move publicly for the first time, admitting that it felt strange.

“To be transparent, it's weird.... You understand throughout the course of your career that the NBA is a business and people change teams... but it doesn't make it any easier. It's still a human element of it.. But it's also a side you have to welcome our new teammates,” Tatum said.

It is safe to say Tatum will need some time to adjust to Boston's decision to move on from Brown. The two formed one of the NBA's premier duos for several seasons, but now both players are entering new chapters in their careers.

Tatum now becomes the unquestioned face of the Celtics, with the franchise moving forward without its longtime star duo. It will undoubtedly be an adjustment for him, but he has been open and straightforward about his feelings regarding the split.
