Celtics could've had Kevin Durant in giant Jaylen Brown blockbuster trade

The Boston Celtics could've had Kevin Durant last season.

Would they have won the NBA title with KD? It's impossible to know.

But that's the concept that's floating around social media lately with Durant again in the midst of deep trade rumors.

This one is a blast from the past that insider Shams Charania reminded us about on The Pat McAfee Show recently.

Back in 2022, when Durant was still with the Brooklyn Nets, the Celtics wanted him.

Charania reported at the time that an offer of Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and a first-round pick was on the table.

The Nets wanted more, and eventually dealt Durant to the Suns.

It's crazy how much the NBA's past couple seasons might've changed if this deal happened.

Durant with Jayson Tatum could've still been an NBA champ-caliber team, but losing Brown and White obviously hurts big time.

In Brooklyn, that pairing could've helped the Nets be probably a top-four team in the Eastern Conference at their best.

The Suns may have taken a home-run swing on a different aging superstar.

All told, the impact would've been gigantic. But instead, this is the timeline we're in, with Durant now likely to be traded again but the Celtics having no need or reported interest in him this time around.
