The Boston Celtics are expected to send out some big names, but they might be able to add a familiar face back into the fold.
Over the next few weeks, the short-term future of the Celtics will be molded through a series of moves that could see the likes of Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday and others get moved. While the Celtics’ financial situation has effectively forced their hand to break up their 2024 championship core, they could still find some value on the other side of these deals.
While the exact specifics could take some ironing out, there is certainly a window of opportunity for the Celtics to bring back one of their most important role players from the past decade. As the Miami Heat look to make moves this offseason, including a potential deal for Kevin Durant, it appears that Terry Rozier could be on his way out of South Beach.
If Rozier were to head out of Miami, a reunion in Boston could make perfect sense for both sides. Since Rozier went to the Heat, he has failed to live up to expectations and meet the production he had in Charlotte.
Of course, if he could go to Boston and have a bounce-back season in the final year of his current deal, Rozier could improve his value going into free agency in 2026 and give the Celtics a boost, particularly as they await Jayson Tatum’s return from injury.

Rozier in Boston isn’t necessarily a perfect fit, but the upside certainly could be worth taking the risk.
