The Dallas Cowboys haven't had the services of wide receiver CeeDee Lamb for the past two weeks due to an ankle injury.
Lamb suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 3 that forced his early exit. The star wide receiver was given a timeline of three to four weeks initially, so the expectation was Lamb would sit yet again against the Carolina Panthers in Week 6.
Lamb was certainly tracking in that direction over the first two days after he was listed as a non-participant in practice on Wednesday and Thursday.
On Friday, the Cowboys made an official decision on Lamb for Sunday.
CeeDee Lamb injury update
According to the Cowboys' official injury report, Lamb has been ruled out for Week 6. He was once again a non-participant in practice on Friday, which was to be expected.
Now, we turn our attention to a possible return in Week 7 for Lamb, and things are looking promising on that front.
Lamb was getting in work with resistance bands on the side field during the week, so that's a sign of progress and gives us hope he'll be able to get back on the field next week.
Even ESPN's Todd Archer offered that hope, although he was speculating.
"CeeDee Lamb continues to make progress from his high left ankle sprain. Just my guess: don’t rule him out for next week’s game vs. Washington," Archer wrote.
If Lamb doesn't come back in Week 7, we fully expect him to return in Week 8, as that would be four weeks since his injury and the long end of the aforementioned timeline.
With Lamb out, expect another big role for George Pickens and Jake Ferguson, both of whom have stepped up admirably with Lamb sidelined.
Dallas will also be looking for contributions from Ryan Flournoy and Jalen Tolbert, both of whom have had a good game apiece in Lamb's absence.
