CBS ranks all 32 teams by their quarterback history, Broncos come in near the very top

The Denver Broncos have been blessed with some of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game of football, and that is one of the main reasons the team has been able to hoist the Lombardi Trophy three different times.

It's ironic that John Elway and Peyton Manning — arguably both top 10 quarterbacks ever — came to the Broncos by virtue of decisions made by the Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts. Recently, Cody Benjamin and Bryan DeArdo of CBS Sports decided to rank the 32 teams in the NFL by their history at the quarterback position. Elway and Manning were two big reasons why the Broncos came in very high on the list, at No. 5, within Tier 1, which was labeled "Hall of Fame Factories". Elway, Manning and Craig Morton were listed as the Broncos' greats.

"This is a top-heavy bunch, and even Manning only spent four years in Denver, but the peaks are so illustrious. Between just Elway and Manning, after all, the Broncos advanced to seven different Super Bowls, winning three. Morton also reached the big game, though it's Elway's Hall of Fame tear over 16 years as the true propeller. Like Brady with the Patriots, he single-handedly elevated the entire program", wrote Benjamin and DeArdo.

For a team that went through such a rough stretch at the quarterback position following the retirement of Manning after Super Bowl 50, the Broncos seem to be pointed in the right direction with Bo Nix entering his second year, ready to get that tradition of great quarterback play in Denver back on track.

The only teams that ranked higher than the Broncos were the Dallas Cowboys, Colts, San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers.
