The Houston Astros fanbase didn't even see Carlos Correa get hurt.
But now the franchise great is looking at an injury that could keep him out for a long time.
MLB.com reported the news Tuesday night into Wednesday that Correa sustained a "significant injury" to his left ankle.
Their writer, Brian McTaggart, reports that it could be an absence of weeks "or maybe even months" with this injury for Correa.
According to McTaggart, Correa hurt his ankle while he was taking swings in the batting cage on Tuesday in Houston. It's not made more clear what actually happened, leaving an element of mystery.

Most injuries happen on the field, and even if it's not always clear what the severity is, onlookers can trace an ailment to a specific moment that they have a visual of. This one will be different, given that Correa did it while only team personnel were around.
Correa isn't his peak self on the field anymore, but he's still having a solid season with a .279 batting average and a .788 OPS.
The Astros are just 15-22 after getting off to a rough start, and so losing Correa to injury is not ideal. They just had catcher Yainer Diaz go on the Injured List with a left oblique strain, too.
Houston remains without Jeremy Pena, as well as outfielders Jake Meyers and Joey Loperfido.
Sometimes seasons go sideways because of injuries, which to an extent can simply be bad luck. That certainly seems to be what happened to Correa, and now the Astros will be without him for a while.
